Alina A. (23), Ivana B. (20) and Michaela R. (20), all Romanian nationals, pleaded guilty to brothel keeping at their home address in Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan. A Garda witness said they admitted using the apartment for prostitution. The judge complemented the Gardaí for bringing the charges. All three were given 3 month suspended sentences on condition they undertake to leave the country within 14 days and not to return for two years. The judge added that if they were pimps as opposed to workers they would be going to prison. Alina A. and Michaela R. were each fined €200 as they had no previous convictions, while Ivana B. was fined €500 because she had 2 previous convictions for similar offences in Limerick in 2010.
