Alina C., Lonela C. (25) and Ramona M. (28), all Romanian nationals, were charged with keeping a brothel in Sligo on a date in November 2013. Lonela C.’s solicitor stated she was controlled by an organised element and wanted to return to Romania. Alina C. also stated she wanted to return to Romania. The judge bailed Lonela C. and Alina C. and adjourned the case for one week stating that if the women had left the country by then he’d “deal with the matter in a particular way”. At a later date Ramona M. was dealt with by way of a €100 fine after being described as an exploited young woman.
