Aulicete W. (49), a Brazilian national, pleaded guilty to brothel keeping at an address in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick on 9 May 2011. A Garda witness said she was the leaseholder of an apartment they searched and had made full admissions. €6,200 in cash, a laptop and mobile phone were seized. Aulicete W.’s solicitor said she was married to an Irishman and had no previous convictions. He said another girl was involved with her but his client had co-operated fully and stayed to face the charges unlike this other woman. He said his client worked occasionally as a cleaner and in restaurants. He said her mother was unwell and required surgery and the money she earned was being sent back to Brazil for this. Of the €6,200 found in the apartment €5,000 belonged to Aulicete W.’s husband, said her solicitor. The Garda witness agreed with this and asked for a forfeiture order on the remaining €1,200 and the laptop. The judge granted those orders and fined Aulicete W. €700.
