Elena B. (33) and Milena H. (39) were arrested at a premises in Cavan on 4 October 2012. A Garda told the court both ladies had only been at the property a couple of days and admitted it was a brothel. The judge asked if they were the “organisers or the workers” and the Garda responded that they were the workers. The Garda witness also gave evidence they were used in this business and put there by more sinister people. The judge directed Gardaí encourage both defendants to make contact with Ruhama with a view to getting them away from this occupation. Their solicitor explained that Elena B. was a mother of one and both Elena B. and Milena H. had very limited financial circumstances. The judge gave them the benefit of the Probation Act and directed each pay €250 to the Cavan Conference of St Vincent de Paul.
