Terezinha. A. D. J. (73), a Brazilian national, pleaded guilty to allowing a premises in Naas, Co. Kildare to be used as a brothel on 9 November 2017. The case was adjourned on multiple occasions. In an article in the Leinster Leader it was reported that Terezinha. A. D. J.’s solicitor said there was a legal point to be made about the case, however his client had instructed him to plead guilty. A Garda told the court that the property was placed under surveillance and there was only one person – Terezinha. A. D. J. – working there. Terezinha. A. D. J. was allegedly charging for €80 for sex. The court was told Terezinha. A. D. J. had arrived in Ireland only a few days previously and had seen just one customer. €80 was the amount of money gardai found at the address. Terezinha. A. D. J. made a full statement. The court was told Terezinha. A. D. J.’s 98 year old mother was very ill and her 40 year old son needed a new kidney and she needed money to help her son. She was described as visibly upset during the case and supported by a Brazilian translator. After hearing the case the judge applied the Probation Act on the basis she was going back to Brazil and awarded the €80 found to the state.
